My Scraps & More #43

can you tell I love working with the sketches over at My Scraps & More?! Here's #43 we got to work with:

and here is what I created with it:

another layout signifying my son growing up! here is a close-up:

I also got this one done at the crop I went to last Friday night at the local scrapbook store. It was a hugely productive night! I still have two more to put some finishing touches on and then I'll be working on some design team work for SEM and for a guest spot coming up next month! Thanks for stopping by!

My Scraps & More #41

here is the sketch we had to work with:

I created this layout with tears in my eyes as I watch my son grow just a bit more every day. He is starting his sophomore year in high school and well, me being the scrapbook mom that I am, well, you can tell by the layout itself:

here are some close-ups:

I really enjoyed working with this sketch! I also really love how the layout turned out. I did these at A crop this last Friday night at the local scrapbook store. I have more to share so I'll be back soon!

1-2-3 Get Scrappy!

this is my first layout for the new challenge site 1-2-3 Get Scrappy!:

this was the challenge:

I used the color red, the *free* square, and thickers! We can enter this challenge up to 3X by Aug. 31.
This was fun! I used more from the Studio Calico kit "Marks & Co." and American Crafts Thickers.
Thanks for stopping by!

more from Studio Calico!

last week's reveal over at Sketches In Thyme was this sketch:

This was literally perfect for the paper that came from my Studio Calico's kit "Marks & Co." and everything except the title chipboard letters is from that kit! The chipboard letters are plain white from Basic Grey which I colored with my Copic markers. Love, love, love how this layout turned out!! Here it is:

the funny story behind this photo is that Shadow really does lay like this when she gets out in the sun! and not just for a few minutes! thanks for stopping by and hope y'all are having a super scrappy day!

skool daze!

I'm trying to catch up on all of Liam's school pictures and was finding it hard to do just one page for one year so this is what I came up with:
the first photo is his preschool one and then on up from there 'til 5th grade. I love it and it makes me teary 'cos just yesterday I took his first day as a sophomore pic! Where has the time gone?! I am entering this into the Anything Goes challenge over at About A Boy blog. It is my first ever to enter a challenge on this site and I'm just happy I found it!
Hopefully I'll have more to show you later today! Thanks for stopping by! Stay scrappy my friends!

okay I've got one more...this is his first day in 6th grade and first day in middle school:

this was fun but now I'm all teary and weepy so I think I'll tackle his sophomore page later!

boys will be boys!

so we went to a birthday party at a place where they have the indoor bouncy thingies! Our good friends son was turning 8 and we've known them a really long time. Awesome people! Well this next layout shows how boys like to be rough and tough and also how one adult likes to do the same thing only he is much bigger than the boys!

my husband is in the black shirt while the boys are in blue. My son does get a good one in on his dad but otherwise my husband was a man possessed!!  This was a very clean and simple page but I did end up hand stitching the title "ready? set? go! here's a close-up:

I enjoyed creating this layout but feel it's lacking an element like maybe borders on the sides or something like that. I must re-examine it and you may see a new and improved page in a little while! thanks for stopping by!

Finally got some scrapping in!

here is a layout I created from a My Scraps & More sketch that I just rotated it to fit my photos:

and this is what I came up with:
I used the newest kit from Studio Calico "Marks & Co." which I really enjoyed using all the elements and details provided by this one kit alone! I am enjoying being a kit club member 'cos I know I'll get at least one piece of scrappy mail each month!
that's it for now. I will be back with at least one more I have finished but need to catch up in the scrappy world since my stay in the hospital! thanks for stopping by!

it was a success!

for those of you who don't know my story, I have multiple sclerosis. I was diagnosed in '06 and it has slowly progressed from there. I have been in a wheelchair since last September and haven't been able to straighten my legs since January of this year. I'm doing great from the waist up and spirit-wise but it's my legs and back that haven't been doing so well. So 2 days ago I went into the hospital to have a spinal tap procedure done with a medicine I take now orally but this would put it directly into my spinal fluid and we would hopefully see results in 2 - 5 hours. Well (I'm gonna start crying again dog gone it!) my legs starting straightening with one hour of the procedure and then in the next 3 hours I was moving my legs like I haven't been able to do in over a year!! I cried tears of joy pretty much all day! My husband was there with me the whole time and was equally as emotional as me! God answered my prayers so much more than I could have ever imagined and I am so very thankful!
the next step now is to meet with the neurosurgeon and schedule a date for a surgery where they will implant a small pump in my side that contains the medicine that helped me today and it has a small catheter that will go directly into my spine to administer the medicine however much I need at certain times of the day and night. Wow! I am in awe of technology these days! So there you have it! The medicine trial was a success and now just some more waiting but a good kind of waiting!! Thanks for all your prayers and support! Blessings my scrappy friends!

Sketches In Thyme # 119

here is the sketch:

and here is what I created:

the journaling on the left side of the page says this: any friendship that exceeds the 7 yr. mark is more than likely to last an entire lifetime.
These 4 have been friends since the 1st grade and now will all be sophomores together in high school! They are such a great group of kids and I love them all dearly!
I kept to the sketch pretty closely 'cos I really liked it for this one photo of the boys. The thin black line between the red strip and blue background is stitching in black. Here are a few close-ups:

this was fun! thanks for stopping by! have a scrappy day!

Scrapping Everyday Miracles main challenge # 31

August Main Challenge #31

Cara here to bring you this month's Main Challenge...."I Can Do All Things Through Christ".
For I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

God created us to do great things and gives us the strength, courage and perseverance to do them!  He also delights in us and with us when we do---isn't that cool? So this month I want to you to create a project about an accomplishment...it can be your own or a loved ones.

The LORD your God is with you,
He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
He will quiet you with his love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17
So, you can choose anything that you consider an accomplishment---completing a degree, finishing a race, beating an illness, weight loss, etc. Can't wait to see what God is doing in your lives.

Oh, and don't forget the Scrap Twist...use metal or something metallic on your project.

Our generous sponsor this month is
