let's get hopping!

SCRAPPING EVERYDAY MIRACLES
HOP into SPRING BLOG HOP!
MARCH 29th - 31st

Hi SEM Blog Hoppers! I'm so excited to be part of the Scrapping Everyday Miracles
Hop into Spring Blog Hop! For most of us (all of us in the Northern Hemisphere), Spring is upon us. (well sort of! we had a huge snow storm here in the Midwest which dumped 8" of snow on the 3rd day of Spring!) Spring is such a beautiful time of year. Yes, it can be rainy and wet, but that rain brings the green grass, gorgeous flowers and the start of new growth. It is also the season of Easter...the holiday that celebrates the resurrection of our Savior...the one who came to give us new life and make us new creations!  "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" 2 Cor. 5:17

And speaking of "new"...our Design Team has added some new members. Welcome to Toni, Jessica, Helen, Tracey S, and Christy...we're so happy to have them join us this term.

Each of the Design Team members will share with you a Spring or Easter themed project and answer a couple questions (this is a great way to get to know each of these gals a bit better). Please "HOP" through the list to see the inspiration and learn some fun facts about these creative gals.

Our Blog Hop prize is sponsored by...
Genuinely Jane Studios (GJS) manufactures small and medium sized mini-albums for scrapbooking, mixed media and altered arts in a variety of shapes and sizes. 100% American-made, our facility is located in rural, north-central Missouri and uses only the highest quality materials.

Our Hop into Spring Blog Hop Prize is two Genuinely Jane Wood albums!  You will receive both the dress form album and the flower album.

Here is an example of a flower album after it has been decorated!

To win this prize you'll want to leave a comment on each DT member's blog and we'll randomly choose one blog to select the winner from. All winners will be announced Saturday, April 6th.

Also you'll want to head over to our SEM Facebook Chit-Chat Page for another chance to win.. We have a fun Blog Hop Challenge for you and another great prize from Genuinely Jane Studio . (if you're not already part of the Chit-Chat page, just request an invitation, and we'll get you added in a jiffy).

The project I have made is a Spring layout:

What do you love most about Spring?  I so need Spring to be here! I am anxious for the flowers, green grass and hearing the birds sing outside my scraproom window! I am excited to visit the botanical garden, the zoo and the butterfly house! I can't wait to plant a flower garden. My favorites are gerber daisies and tulips!

Where do you live? I live in St. Louis, Missouri...home of the Cardinals baseball team! I am looking forward to a few games this year. It's a fun town!

I truly appreciate you visiting my blog today and I'm offering a RAK.  My wish for you as fellow scrappers to be able to pick what you like or want from a store in my area that is hopefully in yours as well. So I am giving away a $15 gift card to one of the following stores: Michael's, Hobby Lobby or JoAnn's. You pick! Just leave a comment for me and I'll randomly choose a winner from all the comments left by Sunday, March 31st at 11:59pm. The winner will be announced on Saturday, April 6th.

And don't forget that on the SEM Blog, we're going to choose a Grand Prize winner from a randomly chosen Design Team member's comments! Winner to be announced Saturday, April 6th.

If you've missed any stops along the way make sure you go back and comment for your chance to win...have fun hopping!

waiting on the weather...

we are supposed to get a major winter storm tonight and tomorrow! yeah...well, we'll just have to wait and see!
have a layout and a 1/2 to share with you today! why just a 1/2? because it's a two pager but the first part still needs journaling and one more element added to it! I did have one layout finished but it needs a photo! here it is:

and here is page 2 of  the two pager:
I used the Sketches In Thyme sketch # 106 again!
I will post page 1 tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by for a look!

Sketches In Thyme #106

Sketches In Thyme has a new reveal up today and it is a two pager! #106! this was fun and I am a guest maven once again! Here's the sketch:

and here's what I came up with:

I have some more work to do today and have to get ready for a crop at the LSS for tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by! :)

a tutorial up at SEM

"hidden journaling"

hi! kelly here with a quick tutorial to share with you! last year I did the following tutorial for a friend's blog:
http://ejoym.blogspot.com
While I'm sure there are many scrappers who love hand written journaling I, for one, am not one of those scrappers! I don't like my handwriting but I do feel it adds a personal element to the pages of my family's history. so how do I add "the story" to a page? well I'm glad you asked because that's what I have to show you today! There are many ways to hide or "disguise" your journaling or for that matter your handwriting. Many scrappers utilize their computers for different fonts and sizes. Me? I love hiding my handwriting and using my computer both! For example: this page has lots of hidden "treasures!"

I'll show you what I mean - this is an interactive page with hidden pictures and journaling. The first "flap" on the left has computer journaling and extra photos:

pretty sneaky huh?! this is also a great way to add extra photos! I'm loving this LO and its "hidden" potential!  but wait - there's more! the middle "flap"  has even more to offer:

what's fun about these "flaps" is that you can use different elements to open them to show your hidden "treasures" like the buttons and floss on this flap and/or you can use ribbon that you may have in your stash!
the possibilities are endless! the last "flap" on this LO has journaling which is my own handwriting and extra photos:

there are just so many ways to "hide" elements on your LOs. Check out your local scrapbook store for envelopes that are pre-made where you can hide journaling and extra photos. Or you can make your own "pockets" like on this next LO:
I made a "pocket" on the right side of this LO that is hiding my journaling which is handwritten:

this has hopefully been a helpful little tutorial on the "hidden potential" of  your scrapbook pages and LOs. I know I had a blast in doing this and I hope you will too!

new sketch challenge at SEM!

March's Sketch Challenge

Cara here to bring you this month's Sketch Challenge!
The sketch we're using this month is by the talented Debbie Gaydos.

The Scrap Twist is to use Buttons.

What drew me to this sketch was the way you can use it for multiple photos ... or use it for less (that's what I did--only used two, but used some patterned paper in between). I also loved the circles!!

here's what I came up with:

We'd love to have you link up your project using this Sketch for an opportunity to win this awesome prize pack from our sponsor Sue at ScrapChicKits.

There's also time to get another chance to win... by completing this month's MAIN CHALLENGE #26.

All Sketch entries must be linked HERE by March 31st, 11:59pm PST.

*Important: Make sure your link is to the blog post with your project & not just your blog in general...and be sure to remember the SCRAP TWIST!

be sure to jump over to Scrapping Everyday Miracles to see what the design team has created for this fun challenge!

snow? hah!

here's page 2 of the two page layout I just finished:
and here are the 2 pages together:
these two pages are from the Bella Blvd. kit I received back some time ago from the "Honey, I'm home" collection. Loved it! The pictures are from 2007 - 2012...just "us" as a family! Simple and to the point!
Hope everyone had a great weekend! Blessings!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

been working on a few layouts this weekend...not much else going on. Here is page 1 of a 2 pager I've been busy with:
just need to add pictures to the second page! Be back soon with more! Oh! and it's snowing AGAIN! this time the weather dude is calling for 3-5 inches! hmmmmm....

my first My Scraps & More!

a friend came over yesterday to crop and it was a great time! For this layout, I used a sketch from My Scraps & More and supplies I had from a kit by Scenic Route:
the challenge at My Scraps & More was to follow the sketch and use 2 sets of 2. I used 2 buttons and 2 sets of arrows. Here are a few close-ups:

a fun, productive day!!

Sketches In Thyme #104

I have had this done for awhile...there is a new sketch over at Sketches In Thyme - #104:

here is what I came up with:

I got the idea of "hanging" the ornaments from my friend Sherri...you can find her here: http://faithandscraphappiness.blogspot.com/2013/02/brads-buttons-and-fasteners.html
I am cropping with a friend today so hopefully I will have a few layouts to post later! Blessings!

here are the 2 pages together:
thanks for stopping by! blessings my scrappy friends!

just found!

I am trying to be more organized this year...especially since I seem to be getting fearfully forgetful! I came across several kits I won from over a year ago and thought I should start and finish one or two! This layout is page 2 for a two-pager and it's all Bella Blvd. from the "Honey, I'm home" collection. Love it!:
This is gonna be a busy day as I try and finish the other 3 layouts from this kit! Yay! Fun!

new challenge at Scrapping Everyday Miracles

This month’s challenge is to scrap about how it is more blessed to give than to receive.

Have you even given someone something or done something for someone with absolutely no strings attached, expecting nothing in return? How did that make you feel? Have you ever been overjoyed after giving something that made someone truly happy? Have you been the recipient of a gift from a child, so eager to bring you pleasure with something they made for you? Has someone ever done something for you that you could never pay them back for? In this world of always striving for more we can easily forget the blessing of giving to others.
So put your thinking cap on...and create a project about a gift you received that really touched your heart or a sacrificial gift you gave. Perhaps you could even make a gift to give (specifically for this challenge). Also...it wouldn't have to be a physical gift, do you have photos of when you donated your time to help out?
The scrap twist is to include some gems on your project.
This month's sponsor is ScrapChicKits and here is what the owner Sue has to say about it:

I got started into scrapbooking from Bernadine Segui who is an American fluent in French who has a website in French and does amazing design work. Here is her link  for any of you who speak French. I wanted to bring some of her products together into kits for the English speaking and that's how Scrapchickits got started.   I love family history and scrapbooking can make our history so bright and creative. My store features quality products from Websters, Crate Paper, Pink Paisley and more  at a very reasonable price.  My shop is on Etsy so it is really easy to find and to order. ScrapChicKits. Happy Scrapbooking!"

And now for the prize that Sue has so generously donated:

Dolls, Butterflies and Flower Scrapbooking kit 8

This kit is especially designed for your little girl who loves dolls, dress up and flowers. It is luscious pink and turquoise. Look what you get inside: 3 Crate Paper Cottage Collection papers, 1 Crate Paper Paper Doll Collection paper, 4 Crate Paper Pink Plum Collection papers, Crate Paper Chipboard Paper Doll Accents, Crate Paper Paper Doll Glazed Brads, 18 inches turquoise ribbon, My Minds Eye Alphabet.

One winner will be chosen randomly.

**NOTE: You may submit the project you create for Scrapping Everyday Miracles to other challenge blogs but your project must be mainly created for the Scrapping Everyday Miracles challenge in order to win the sponsor prize and/or be one of Top 3**

All entries must be linked HERE by March 31st, 11:59pm PST.

*Important: Make sure your link is to the blog post with your project & not just your blog in general...and be sure to remember the SCRAP TWIST!

here's what I came up with:
head on over and check out what the DT has created for this challenge!
